out of the comfort zone…

And, it was fun! I went down to look at the bikes at the big MountainFest here in Morgantown. They were expecting 70K bikes and I think they must have hit and exceeded that. Our town has been taken over. The lensbaby and I went down. I am still amazed at my lack of ability to take good pictures of still subjects with the lensbaby but I will keep trying.

I will never own a bike (darn trauma call at a level 1 trauma center, it was an eye opener that will make me wrap kids in bubble wrap someday!) But, if I was to own a bike I saw a couple I would buy. This one for instance. What a pretty purple. It had to be a girls bike. It was just too darn cute.

Or, another option would be the blue gold combo. Blue for Justin (no, you can’t have a bike) and gold for me. Too cute. These weren’t together. They had different state license plates on them. But they parked by each other. Very appropriate for the WVU campus.

New craft - linocut

I do not know the actual name for this craft but a few months ago I got some linoblocks. This is fun to do. I do not know if what I did was recognizable. It is actually from the tower on WVU’s campus original building, Woodburn Hall. I love photographing this building. Here is my attmpt at some Woodburn Hall cards. It was a fun ‘quick’ craft. I think I could do better with a little more prep.

Fun craft. I can’t wait to try more. I should probably order more blocks though.

WOW, Life is different

I started my job and WOW. Thats about all I can say. I guess I am happy to be doing my work but at the same time I come home feeling like the world has just dumped some not so fun stuff on me. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy what I do but I just never seem to be ready for what the day will normally bring. I could list off my problems from one day and fill in an entire post but I wont bore you with that. The learning curve is greatly increased from school. I hope everything gets better.

On to the better fun stuff. I have been doing a few fun things at home. A few weekends ago I made 12 1 cup servings of pesto and froze them. Yummmm! I have used some (initially I had 14 cups) and found it very tasty. I had it on ravioli one night and then on hamburgers another night.

Then this is a tablerunner I have been working on for weeks now. I like it a lot but feel like the fabrics also do not match up well. But, I still like it. Going to get it put together this weekend I hope.

I will try to post more often but until I get into the groove of things at work I may be behind on EVERYTHING else in life.

New crafts

So I started working again last week. Not many hours yet but that will be changing fast. Like, Monday. I may be there forever on Monday. Scary.

Here are some of the crafts I did while my cousin was here and after.

Some towels we bought at a discount store and then added the detail to. I can’t wait to fill my house with altered towels now!

We tried out some embroidery when my cousin bought a kit at Michaels. The towel I made last week as a quick project. I wish I had a brighter green for the stems but still it was fun for trying out!

These are some cards I tried out. Just some wonder-under. Cardstock cut and folded and the top is a piece of card stock. Fun activity but I need a craft knife.

Lastly, there is this start to a tablerunner. It is going to be a gift if I can ever get it finished. I might work on it today but there is a neonatal resuscitation book that needs read, basil to be made into pesto, walks and exercise to do. Too much to do in too few hours.
