Knit - Sew - Spin - Study

This past week…

my cousin came to visit from New York. While here we did a lot of crafting, disc golf, horseback riding, campus touring, and went to a Pittsburgh Pirates game. At the game I had the oppurtunity to try out the lensbaby more. It would have been fun to play around with throughout the stadium but I stayed in my seat. Here are some pictures.

Loving the lensbaby!

Ok, I am going to have to take it off my camera soon because I can’t have all pictures being blurry. But, I LOVE this thing! Today I was in Charleston, WV to pick up my cousin from the airport and while there we went with my parents and grandpa to the Farmer’s Market. Here are some pictures from the day. I am getting better at the focus.

Lensbaby Play

Filed under: General — Treah at 2:11 pm on Friday, June 22, 2007

OOOOHHHHH I can not wait to see what I get to photograph with this thing. I still need TONS of practice. There is the whole changing the appeture ring by physically removing and replacing with a different ring (which leads to me selecting wrong shutter speeds and either over exposing or underexposing.) There is the no zoom factor so I have to place my body with the camera instead of zooming in and out (also something I have been spoiled about for years.) But, it was FUN to play with this thing today!

This picture is focused on the wrong area of the building but it was one of my better ones. I tried. Will have to go back!

More to add to this post as I go through them.

Quebec Glass Pieces

Filed under: General — Treah at 10:16 am on Friday, June 22, 2007

Here is one of my 2 new glass pieces. It is made somewhere in the Quebec region. I really liked these so I choose to get some from this company as my birthday gifts from my parents. I photographed this with my new lensbaby. It is going to take so much practice!

Birthday Gift from Justin

Filed under: General — Treah at 9:12 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2007

This is the gift Justin got me for my birthday. It is beautiful. He got to see me drool over these while in Vermont. He then got to see me put myself in agony for not writing down the artists name so as to get one later in life when I might be able to. He then apparently went and bought me one, YAY!

It is from a Vermont artist, Terry Zigmund (just click on ‘About Us’.” I will be watching for her stuff from now on when in Vermont. I want to hang it in a window but also have to deal with the fact that I don’t clean my windows. As you can see here, there is crap stuck in the screen. Humm. It iwll have to wait till after residency now!

Tomorrow will be the gifts from my parents that were made in Quebec. Gotta clean my table off to photograph them.

This one is leaving my hands soon. That is, if it survives a washing. I prewashed the fabric but I was unsure on what to do with the red thread. I hope if it runs, it runs on the red fabric.

Quebec Region - Ill d’Orleans and Montmorency Falls

Filed under: General — Treah at 8:21 pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Today we drove out of Quebec City to Ill d’Orleans and Montmorency Falls. The island has not been overbuilt and still holds some old charm. It was a neat place. The falls are about 100 ft higher than Niagra Falls. They were beautiful. Pictures below.

From the observation tower on the island. It was very pretty up there but also VERY windy. We had to keep our feet firmly planted and hold on!

Montmorency Falls. Beautiful. My dad and I walked closer to the falls and got a little wet but it was worth it. Very neat place.

These horse drawn carriages are throughout old town Quebec City. Tourists can pay for a ride in them and the driver gives them a city tour. It is very neat to see them with the backdrop of the old buildings.

Wow, this city is beautiful!

This city is amazing. We have been exploring old town for 3 days now. Walked many of the streets multiple times but every time you find something else different. We have also enjoyed people watching.

Today I seemed to get to take many pictures of people. There appears to be a business of walking tours led by people in a character. I am not sure what the characters are but they are cute to see with the old town buildings surrounding us. Also, tonight we happened across a fire alarm. There didn’t seem to be a fire but we are guessing that with the tightness of the buildings here, they must respond fast and prepare for the worst. There were many trucks, police cars and ambulances. No smoke though. I am glad about that! It was a great place to get pictures though.

Quebec City

I was lucky enough to travel to Quebec City today. What a place!!! Wow! I haven’t even seen much yet and I am already amazed. Our arrival started with a wonderful surprise of a hotel room with a sitting room, separate bedroom, two tvs, and a bar. Goodness! Justin did not get to come with me and that is too bad because it is quite the place!

Still off… Still loving it!

Filed under: General — Treah at 9:24 pm on Thursday, June 7, 2007

I am kind of scared about starting work. Not only because of what I will be doing but also because I am still loving being off work. I am not bored yet. I think I need to get down right bored to have the desire to have lack of sleep, constant judgment laid on me and CONSTANT stress (also, happy moments of wonderful patients, wonderful stories and a life of doing what I want to do. But when you are not ready to go back it is easy to forget about that stuff!) Well today was filled with great food, great family visiting, great disc golf and great camera practice! I wish the sky would be blue though. Below is a picture from today. I like it. It would be even nicer with a beautiful blue sky. Or a beautiful blue sky with lovely fluffy clouds. What a happy thought!
