Knit - Sew - Spin - Study

Long time, no post

I have been down in the dumps on some rotations that are not my first (or second, or third) career choice. When that happens I loose a lot of drive. I ended up not posting much lately. So here is an update.

Knit purse with a cute lining from the book my brother and sister-in-law got me for Christmas. Still adding to it. Fun project.

Nintendo Wii. This thing is dangerous. It is so much fun. This is my dad playing gulf. You can see his character on the screen. Lots of fun. I will try to post more.

Cheap and easy to find toy. A plastic bottle. She was so proud of herself.

We brought it home, after some much needed play, for the garbage.

See the thrill on her face, or should I say, in her ears.

Bookshelf in place

Justin and I just moved the bookshelf to its home. I made it to fit this area. I still have room on the top but I think that may be a good area for pictures. We will see. This spot is perfect for a shelf but I want to try to keep pretty stuff on it here. But pretty stuff that needs stored. Heres final pictures.

I have been building

Filed under: General — Treah at 11:46 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2007

I have never built things with wood but I have now. I wanted a nice heavy wood shelf that would fit at the top of my steps. I wanted it to be the right size, not just a shelf off the rack. I did some research online and decided to give it a try. I went to Lowes with my Dad and husband and found out the neatest thing. They will cut everything for you to the size you want. I got everything cut and then came home to make my cheap pine look like smooth nice wood (being that I was going to paint it it was easy to do, just lots of labor.) I finally got all the molding on how I wanted it this evening and put the primer on. Below are pictures.

There is still a lot of work to do. It will look even nicer when it is painted and photographed in light, not in my basement.

Christmas gifts put to work

Filed under: General — Treah at 7:42 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2007

For Christmas this year I got, not only, kitchen items but also some nice craft items. One thing was a screen printing kit. I have not gotten to play with that yet because I am putting together a shelving unit in the basement first. I have plans already though. Another thing I got was a book of knit purse patterns. I am such a sucker for craft books like that. They are wonderful to just flip through for ideas. In the picture below I have the green purse I am knitting. The red orange color is the page in the book for the purse. The post-it came in my stocking. The bird pattern on it is very cute. The pen is one my brother made out of a wood called tiger wood. Very cool pen (never goes to school with me either!) Sorry the picture is dark. Not a lot of options when you come home in the dark.

I went to my families house in upstate New York this weekend. My uncle died after a rough but loved life. While there though, I got to spend time with my family. I love going there and being with them. A big difference this trip was that my Aunt got some goats. They are so small and very cute. They play in the yard like a dog would. I tried to photograph them some but they run fast so I was more just snapping hoping I would get something. Below is my favorite photo.
