Knit - Sew - Spin - Study

Been a while

Filed under: General — Treah at 6:12 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2006

It has been a while since I posted, I know. Not sure why. I have been crafting some but mostly on projects I have already shown. More to come later I hope. No craft pictures though.

This weekend is the big WVU - Marshall game. Also the hurricane. Should be wet. I am nervous that people will be ugly to each other at the game. WVU should win (and will)!

Tomorrow I start my outpatient month in Family Med. I am nervous and thrilled at the same time. Family Med doctors are not known for being mean to students so it should be a nonthreatening environment that I can learn from. I already have patients scheduled and I am ready to go. Wish me luck. I will be in Family Medicine for 2 month and then pediatrics for 2 weeks. Then, then!! I have a month and a half off. Should be fun. Justin graduates that month too. Kinda exciting. When I come back after Jan. 1st I will have three and a half months till I am done.

Last Wedding of the season

Filed under: General — Treah at 9:10 pm on Tuesday, August 22, 2006

This weekend was the last wedding of this wedding season for us. It was fun. Other than that we had a fairly benign weekend. We did nothing on Sunday.

Last night was the big Fall Fest for the start of the new school year. It is a giant concert that the university throws for all students and one guest each. I did not recognize the name of any of the bands but the two big ones were The Roots and Stained. Stained played songs that I recognized but I was freezing and had a headache. Maybe I got to old. Sad but true. The freshmen were fine and I was dieing of a headache. And I kept yawning!

No sewing lately.

Blackbear and the PRT

Filed under: General — Treah at 9:16 pm on Friday, August 18, 2006

Tonight we went out with my brother, Deborah, Jason and his wife, Stacey. We first went to Blackbear which is a local restaurant. It is a nice restaurant that serves all kinds of burritos that are not all mexican. They also sell local artists work on the wall and have local music artists in for shows. Tonight was a girl names Holly Spears. She sounded good but this CUTE little boy, who was a customer’s kid, came onto stage with her and stood with his guitar. He stayed up there with her the whole time we were there. And yes, he has a tiny guitar. I know, very cute!

After dinner we took my cousin and his wife on their first ever PRT ride. If you have not been to WVU, the PRT is a transportation thing that has little cars that ride on a track and take you where you want to go (kinda like a subway but above ground and the cars are smaller and more private.)

Hotpad

Filed under: General — Treah at 1:35 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2006

The other night out of boredom I decided to make another hot pad. These are thin but they do the job. The insulation is 2 layers of denim but the next time I may use three. I have already used this to pull a cake out of the oven today. Baking a cake because my cousin and his new wife will be over for dinner, how fun!

So here are some pictures of some outdoor fun over the past week. Luckily she doesn’t normally get into the flowers and did not do too much damage.

Stressful week with a little sewing

Filed under: General — Treah at 8:20 pm on Friday, August 11, 2006

This week was a bit stressful. I thought my life was going to be a little easier yet by thursday I was wishing for the orderly schedule clinic would have provided me. I did get some sewing done this week. Here are some of the products. I have not done the binding on one because I actually got invited to a quilting group and I can do the hand sewing part of that binding when I meet with them.

My cousin’s wedding

Filed under: General — Treah at 8:07 pm on Monday, August 7, 2006

This weekend my cousin got married. He is a second cousin I believe but we were brought up close to him. When we went to family reunions his family always took us in at their camp and still to this day I stay with them in their cabin. Some wonderful memories going there. He met a girl in college, Stacey, who is 100% sweet. They have now moved to Morgantown and I plan on taking full advantage of that! One bad thing was that my camera decided to not like the new batteries I put in it and began not working. Of the pictures I did take I had turned off the flash so they are fairly blurry. I wanted to get good pictures! SHOOT

Kansas City

Filed under: General — Treah at 10:25 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2006

Yesterday I flew to Kansas City to attend the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Medical Student and Resident Conference. The flight was uneventful but last night I had trouble finding a restraunt (I have never seen an area with so few restraunts!)

Today I got up and caught a bus to the AAFP National Headquarters for a whole day seminar on conducting research in family medicine. The seminar was amazing and I will blog about it more on my new blog. This blog is to follow my progress through the research component of my Family Medicine rural medicine program. I feel lost and was thinking someone may learn from my experiences so I am going to keep a log of them. Anyone that wants to comment any idea they have, please do because I have no real clue on what I am doing and every comment could help! Click here for this blog.
No pictures because yours truely forgot my camera. How insane is that! So bummed.

Tomorrow I am headed to presentations by the residents who recieved research grants last year. I then will spend some time in the residency fair. I am then headed to shop!
