Weekend Activity

Filed under: General — Treah at 9:21 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2006

This weekend was fun and full of activity. I have been working on a tablerunner to give as a thank you to someone for providing me with such a wonderful weekend a few weeks ago. It is a replica of an earlier pattern. My favorite, I must say, so I may make one for myself next. I used different fabric. Also today I got into my head an idea for another tablerunner. Guess I will start that one the week after this week.

On Saturday I had the chance to invite friends from school over for dinner. I am usually horrible at preparing a dinner for a group and much less having the dinner done on time but Saturday I successfully finished everything early so that I just had to get it out when people came. That was nice. We were able to get our tailgating tables and diningroom chairs out on the back patio so that everyone sat at the same table. I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed having the get together at my house. Made me clean a bit too which is always good. Mostly people were outside though.

Molding

One thing we have to do around here it is molding. On thursday Justin and I took on one part of molding that needed done. We used corner pieces which made it so that we didn’t have to do mitered joints. I am happy with how it came out. Now if Only I would go through my house filling in the holes and painting molding. This year is nice. I have done more than I had been able to for the past 3 years. Here are some before and after pictures.

I have been pretty active lately. Saturday we took it pretty easy around here. It was cold and rainy. Sunday Justin and I went with my brother and his friend to Wisp Ski Resort and played 9 holes of disc golf. Justin and I then broke off while they did another nine and went to a cute southwestern grill for lunch and then came home. Today was a trip to Snake Hill Wildlife Area for a lot of running for Vandy and a long leisurely walk for us.

I have been working on another tablerunner which is meant to be a gift. I will finish it soon and post the pictures. It is a replica of one from before but it has different fabrics.

Longer Days

Filed under: General — Treah at 7:42 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2006

I guess I should not complain. I have been having to get to the school at 6:30 and today I didn’t leave till a little after 6 so almost 12 hour days but it feels like my whole day goes away quick. This morning I got the big OK to skip morning rounds. I think I will skip them next week since I will not be doing the ear nose and throat surgery but I am learning a lot in theĀ ear nose and throat clinic. It will be very useful as a future primary care provider.

So coming home at 6 tonight was kinda nice cause I came home to a mowed lawn and a cooked dinner!! Now how is that for an awesome husband. COOKED DINNER! And it was made with lean meat, vegies and 1 point buns. I could get use to that.
My last post was about Vandy’s newest aches and pains but the good news is that she is back to close to normal. I only say close because we are not going back to the pulling dog. I bought her a collar that yanks her heard down when she attempts to pull. It took a day or two to figure out that she couldn’t pull anymore and that the collar wasn’t coming off even if she used all paws trying (there were attempts with 3 of the 4 paws.) We just did a 30-40 minute walk with only one episode of her trying to yank off the new collar. She hates it, I love it! I love walking her now. Much more peaceful.
Happy dog owner here (why did I not do this earlier!)

Sad Day

Filed under: General — Treah at 7:22 pm on Monday, July 10, 2006

Poor Vandy, I am the worst dog owner EVER. I took her on a walk yesterday with a friend and then last night we thought she was acting wierd. I thought maybe she got a little sore cause it was a 3-4 mile walk. Anyone that knows Vandy though would know that the dog has energy and 3-4 miles doesn’t phase her that much. This morning I went to get her out of her crate and she was obviously in pain. She tried to walk on tippy toes. So I went to lecture and then came home to try to find any vet to take her in (my vet that I use to like a lot wanted me to pay an extra emergency fee even though they were open so I started to call around.) When I got in at another office they determined that due to her pulling she ripped pads on the bottom of her feet. She got a NSAID shot (a medicine like motrin) in the office and they sent me home with 4 days of pills. She is in so much pain and very sad. Tonight I put my running shoes on and she came walking over to me trying to act as normal as possible hoping she could go. They suggested a ‘gentle leader’ which I will be investing in. No walks for at least a week too. Long sad week.
So Sad. My walk was very sad. 3-4 miles without Vandy. Killed me. I feel safer when she is with me too.

Yet another table runner

I am having fun making these. Here is another. I made some mistakes on this one that I fixed but I still feel bad if anyone else noticed these so this one will be staying in my hands. Makes me happy cause I like it a lot!

Flowers

Filed under: General — Treah at 3:19 pm on Saturday, July 8, 2006

Today I went for a round of disc golf with my brother and sister-in-law. I did better for me but still quite bad. Still fun and a significant amount of exercise. Especially when you can not throw far so every 10 feet you have to stop and pick up your disc and rethrow. I took pictures of my flowers out back today. They are in their prime of blooming. The purple one apparently had a bug in it. I do not know what the plant is that the purple flower comes from, its a small moundy plant and the purple flower is about 1.25 inches in diameter.

Painted Pottery

Filed under: General — Treah at 6:58 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2006

A local place in town has premade pottery that you can paint with glaze yourself and then they fire it. I found this out when I was looking for a Christmas idea for my sister-in-law. I then had some money I could use on it so I went and did a serving bowl. I am so going back!
