Knit - Sew - Spin - Study

Woops, not keeping up!

So since my last post I have come home from my rural Family Med. rotation which I enjoyed! I had a great time. I like the small town thing I think. Its kinda nice to see patients that all connect in some way. I goofed off a little much by hanging out with my parents and my best friend from home but I still got a ton of studying in and I ended up passing my test fairly well for me. What a relief. AND since then I have been busy.

Now this kind of busy I like a lot. I catch up on all the little projects floating around in my head, walk the dog and clean up a bit from the past busy 6 months. Heres two wall hangings I have made.

I worked the cardiac care project this morning at my old elementary school. Boy has that place changed. They made it really big. I then got hours to study (and maybe took a nap) and then did the Interdisciplinary Session for my rural rotation. I did not mind it but it may have been due to me being ‘off’ all day.

I came home and worked more on my quilt wall hanging. The goal is to have it done by Saturday night so that I can sew on the boarder. Good luck huh! I actually just have a little more of the hand quilting to go. I think I like piecing more than quilting. I looked up places to send my big quilt off to get it quilted but its pretty expensive and I think I would be upset after I did it that I did that. I guess Ill just have to keep trying to get it done a little at a time.

Wallhanging

All I did today was work. But it was fun! I am really seeing that rural medicine may be the only way for me to go. I can see that their are stresses that go with it but I REALLY am liking it, especially now that I am comfortable in the office.

OK so the wall hanging I was talking about, here is a picture.

Not much else to report today. I went on a walk with my my friend from home. We went 3 miles and she walks at a super fast pace which means I did to. Felt good. I also got the nerve up to weight myself. Something I was concerned to do cause I ate really bad last weekend.

Saturday

I have done a lot of nothing today. I have actually finished 2 more chapters in this Family Medicine book. Also, I have made headway on applying to the Rural Scholars Program. I have 3 Letters of Recommendation in and the last will be written soon.

I also had the bad crafting thing hit. You know the one. Its where you see something and your mind wont do much until you try whatever it is. Well I saw this snowman wall hanging. I now have a snowman wall hanging. It was a picture of many wall hangings in some magazine from 1995 but there was a snowman one that I just loved so I got out a ruler and did all the dimensions so I could scale them up into my own wall hanging. It came out nicer than I thought it would. Especially since I measured it in millimeters to do the scaling.

Well pictures of it to come tomorrow!

What is up with CRAFTSTER

I am about to keel over. What is going on with Craftster. I had a time in my life where I spent HOURS dreaming on that site (rather than going and crafting I stared at the computer) but now I like my 5 or 10 minutes a day there and here it has been down! I’m actually going into withdraw.

As for today I met my Attending at a hospital to round on patients and then went to his office. Nothing new but I have to say, always exciting. I think I’m going to love my job for a long time. I still get excited over acute visits (things like colds and sinus problems) cause it gives me a small ego boost in that I know kind of what to do.

On the good news spectrum, I got 3 of 4 people to confirm writing me letters of recommendation to the WVU Rural Scholars Program. I am a bit excited about this. I hope to hear from the fourth here soon. I have such low self esteem right now that I was a bit nervous to ask. You know, thats what they use 3rd year for, to KNOCK YOU DOWN. Some of these people find it fun. Others are wonderful and awsome. And others are just there to teach, not to encourage and not to tear you apart.

Oh well. In the end I will be doing what I want to be doing. I made it to this point right!?

Goodnight
