Too Little Time

Filed under: General — Treah at 11:46 pm on Monday, November 28, 2005

I have been going, going and going since 7:15 this morning. Yes, this is sleeping in for any medical student. I worked from 8:30 till 5 in the Rural Clinic I’m assigned to. I leave there with so much to look up everyday that I can not possibly get it all done. This is a good thing cause I will always have something to learn and it means I am learning a lot but at the same time its a bit overwhelming. I did gain MORE new knowledge today. Kind of exciting but here it is, around 12 PM and I am still awake.

Today I had a migraine. I know I am a medical student and should know if its really a migraine but to me if I’m about to throw up and might cry I am going to call it a migraine because everyone knows the pain I was in. I asked my doctor for a Tylenol and he said he would get me some but then never did. I didn’t feel like bugging him but at the same time I would have been more productive on my learning had I not had a headache.

I left the clinic and went to K-Mart where I bought some Excedrin Migraine and then I had the best evening ever (should have been studying though.) I went on a 2 mile walk with my best friend from Daniels then to dinner with her. What a comfort that was.

Until later.

No crafting to talk about yet.

Coldest Game with Turkey

Filed under: General — Treah at 8:30 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2005

This year the TV wanted WVU to play a cold, miserable game on Thanksgiving. I don’t mean a game that was a little cold. It was 5 degrees with windchill. We were playing Pitt. The Husband and all his friends had this wonderful idea to have a fried turkey thanksgiving on the hill behind the WVU stadium. It was so freaking cold that I never got turkey cause I wanted to put my gloves on rather than eat turkey. I had all the fixings though. We had to go 4 hours early, again The Husband’s idea. He stayed outside, I did not. I sat in his car for a while and then my dads car for a while. In the end I blame the TV! BTW, WVU won.

The next day, black friday, we headed to the stores. The VERY crowded stores. It was my mother-in-law, mom and me. I managed to find mroe outfits in the expensive stores and nothing in the stores I can afford. I found no gifts. I bought nothing. Had an awsome lunch and an awsome dinner though. We went to Church Brew Works for dinner. Then after the hour long ride home with deer to hit (we missed them all) I headed out with friends to see RENT. Good show.

Today, due to the lack of turkey on thursday, I got up at 4 and started a turkey breast in the crock. By 12 we had a full thanksgiving dinner set up with the sides my mother-in-law made for thursday plus some added in that I made today. We then went to a basketball game. WE LOST. We lost in overtime no less. It was sad.

Going to Charleston tomorrow for Thanksgiving with my Grandpa. More food!

Starting Rural

Filed under: General — Treah at 10:50 pm on Monday, November 21, 2005

Well, today was the big midterm exam. I PASSED. I ACTUALLY PASSED. First midterm I have passed this year. I felt like it was an accomplishment even if I didn’t pass by much.

I had to drive to Daniels, WV to start my rural Family Medicine rotation. I finally get going at about 6:30 and stopped to get gas. What happens after paying for gas. My car doesn’t start then starts with a WIERD noise and then shut off. It then started again and I drove back home. I then got everything changed into Justin’s car (which I love to drive anyways) and get back on the road just to remember I left my purse back in my car. Once again, back home. Then I did really get on the road.

Trauma surgery did some bad things to my brain (besides not teach me too much other than how to do scut work) becuase I was very scared of hitting a deer and I gripped the wheel tightly all the way to Daniels. My hands actually hurt.

Vandy got the fun of coming with me. She likes that. She has not gotten to sniff all the cat smell out of the house yet but she had to go in her crate for bed. She is now in there moaning cause she wants to sleep. What a noisy dog. If its not one noise its another. I love her for not hiding her emotions.

Sunday before a Test

Filed under: General — Treah at 6:58 pm on Sunday, November 20, 2005

It is Sunday and tomorrow is my Family Medicine midterm exam. I am not really prepared but want to visit with family more than study. I hope I can do well enough on it.

Today I got an email telling me a commercial I filmed was online and I could download it. I like how it came out in the end!

The dog did something REALLY bad today. She bit my husband. He was mad, she was scared and her canine nature came through. She was going to do ANYTHING to not have to go out and in the process bit him. Lets just say she, he and I are all starting obedience classes when Christmas is done. No more biting happening in this house. It will not be tolerated one more time.

I am moving back to my home tomorrow to do a rotation in rural WV. I am excited. I wasn’t going to take the dog but after today she is coming with me. Kind of sucks cause the cat hates her and she thinks Dingbat (parent’s cat) looks like TONS of fun. I’m sure I’ll have a story about that to post.

Off to study!

New Blog

Lets try this again. This is my new blog (old one never got updated so now I’m starting new.)

A little about me - I am a third year medical student with little time and lots of studying to be done. I am married (Justin) with a dog (Vandy). Married for 2.5 years, dog is 3.5 years old. A few of my hobbies include spinning wool, knitting, sewing and hiking/geocaching. I have grown up caving here in the lovely state of WV.

I will try to include stories from my day (no patient stories though, sorry) and any links I find important. I will also try to load pictures of what I am working on or what I have finished.

Hope its interesting!
